What causes chronic pelvic inflammatory disease?

Chronic pelvic inflammatory disease is caused by lower reproductive tract infection, infection after intrauterine surgical operation, poor sexual hygiene, direct spread of inflammation of adjacent organs, and recurrence of acute pelvic inflammatory disease.

1. Lower genital tract infection

The cause of chronic pelvic inflammatory disease is related to lower reproductive tract infection. For example, Neisseria gonorrhoeae cervicitis and Chlamydia trachomatis cervicitis can increase the chance of infection and thus cause harm to pelvic health.

2. Infection after intrauterine surgery

If women undergo curettage, hydrotubation or hysterosalpingography, they are prone to reproductive tract mucosal damage, bleeding and necrosis after the operation, leading to ascending infection of endogenous pathogens in the lower reproductive tract, thereby increasing the incidence of chronic pelvic inflammatory disease.

3. Poor sexual hygiene

Many women have sexual intercourse during menstruation or use of unclean menstrual pads, which leads to the invasion of pathogens, which in turn affects pelvic health and causes varying degrees of inflammatory reactions.

4. Direct spread of inflammation to adjacent organs

For women with appendicitis or peritonitis, the inflammation can easily spread to the pelvic cavity, causing the invasion of Escherichia coli and seriously affecting pelvic health.

5. Recurrence of acute pelvic inflammatory disease

Pelvic inflammatory disease can easily lead to extensive pelvic adhesions, possibly causing fallopian tube damage, and easily cause reinfection, which has an adverse effect on pelvic health.

In daily life, we need to stay away from the causes of chronic pelvic inflammatory disease. After the disease occurs, we can use drugs such as levofloxacin tablets and Kangfuyan capsules to treat it. Severe patients should actively undergo surgical treatment.
