Can ovarian cysts cause amenorrhea?

Physiological ovarian cysts may form after women ovulate each month. The cysts in these people have no function and will not cause amenorrhea. Then generally physiological cysts will disappear on their own. If the cysts continue to exist, they may be pathological cysts and require surgery to determine the nature of the cysts.

Another part of ovarian tumors has the function of endocrine hormones, called functional ovarian tumors, which may cause amenorrhea. For example, androgen-secreting ovarian Sertoli-Leydig cell tumors can produce excessive androgens, inhibit the function of the hypothalamus-pituitary-ovarian axis, and cause amenorrhea.

Are ovarian cysts serious in women?

If the surgical indication is greater than 5 cm, surgery can be performed if necessary. Of course, we will find that some patients are unwilling to undergo surgery. Some cysts are very large. If they are very large, they will inevitably affect the patient's life and work, and cause compression symptoms. Some patients will have frequent urination, press the bladder in the front and the rectum in the back, affecting the patient's quality of life.

There are physiological ovarian cysts and pathological ovarian cysts. If it is a physiological ovarian cyst, we can observe that it will naturally disappear within two or three months. This type will not cause any harm.

The other is pathological, such as the most common serous and mucinous cystadenomas. This type of ovarian cyst and chocolate cyst mainly depends on its size. Of course, if the ovarian cyst is affected by external force, it will rupture. If the rupture is large, it will cause peritoneal irritation, nausea, vomiting, and even bleeding.
