What are the tests for adenomyosis?

1.B-ultrasound examination

Buli believed that histological changes were not related to B-ultrasound images, and the sensitivity of B-ultrasound diagnosis was 63% and the specificity was 97%. It was reported that 73% of vaginal B-ultrasound diagnosed adenomyosis, and the results were consistent with tissue diagnosis, with a sensitivity of 95% and a specificity of 74%. Abdominal B-ultrasound was similar to vaginal B-ultrasound.

2. MRI

The commonly used T2 double impression is used to diagnose adenomyosis. The picture shows a low-intensity band signal coiled outside the strong echo of the normal endometrium. The uneven echo of >5mm thickness gives a typical impression of adenomyosis. The picture changes before and after menstruation, which is of great significance for diagnosis. When the lesion bleeds, strong echo signals of different sizes can be seen. MRI can distinguish between uterine fibroids and adenomyosis, and can diagnose the coexistence of the two, which is of great help in resolution and treatment, which is also the main value of MRI.

3. Hysterosalpingography

Hysterosalpingography is of little diagnostic value because adenomyosis rarely causes uterine cavity distortion. If the lesion involves the endometrial surface, fullness and incompleteness may be seen.

4. Myometrial needle biopsy

Hysteroscopic needle myometrial biopsy has high specificity but low sensitivity for confirming adenomyosis. Most experts believe that myometrial biopsy has no major value in confirming the diagnosis unless the disease is severe. MRI is used to guide the biopsy in patients with pelvic pain.
