What are the treatments for cervicitis?

Bleeding from cervicitis does not necessarily mean that the condition is serious. Generally speaking, a small amount of bleeding may be caused by damage to the cervical mucosa due to cervicitis, and does not mean that the condition is serious. However, if the amount of bleeding is large or frequent, it may mean that the cervical inflammation is more serious, or there are other diseases, such as cervical polyps or cervical cancer.

There are three main treatments for cervicitis:

1. Drug treatment: The main treatment for acute cervicitis is antibiotics, including ceftriaxone sodium, cefixime, doxycycline, azithromycin, etc. For chronic cervicitis, drug treatment is also one of the commonly used methods, including local vaginal suppositories, oral medications, etc.

2. Physical therapy: including electric ironing, freezing, laser, infrared, etc., suitable for those with large erosion area and deep inflammation. Generally, it can be cured after a few treatments, but it is easy to relapse.

3. Surgical treatment: For severe cervical inflammatory polyps, cervical polypectomy is required, and cervical glandular cysts can be punctured and drained; cervical repair surgery can be performed for old cervical lacerations and mucosal eversion.

The above methods are for reference only. If you have symptoms of cervicitis, it is recommended that you seek medical attention in a timely manner and receive targeted treatment according to the doctor's advice. At the same time, you can also prevent the occurrence and recurrence of cervicitis by improving your lifestyle, such as keeping the vulva clean and dry, avoiding sexual intercourse and bathing.
