Can B-ultrasound detect endometriosis? What does it indicate?

Generally speaking, B-ultrasound is an effective method for assisting the diagnosis of endometriosis. It is mainly used to observe ovarian endometriotic cysts and endometriosis. The characteristics of B-ultrasound sonograms are:

1 Cystic mass, with clear or unclear borders. If the cyst is severely adhered to the uterus or surrounding tissues, the borders of the ultrasound image of endometriosis are unclear; if the cyst is less adhered to the uterus or surrounding tissues, the borders are clear. Most cysts are medium-sized, and small granular echoes can be seen in the cysts, which is a manifestation of the viscosity of the cystic fluid. Sometimes, due to the organization of the old blood clots, a thicker light spot image appears, presenting a mixed mass.

2 When the cyst ruptures spontaneously, the ultrasound image of endometriosis shows a depression at the back and the cyst shrinks compared to the front.

3 The mass is often located at the posterior side of the uterus, and cystic uterus complications may be seen.

4. Laparoscopy: Laparoscopy is the new standard for diagnosing endometriosis. Through the laparoscope, the pelvic cavity can be directly viewed, the ectopic lesions can be clearly diagnosed, and the clinical stage can be performed to determine the treatment plan.
