Whether the pelvic effusion is serious or not depends on the specific cause. If it is physiological, it is not serious. If it is chronic pelvic inflammatory disease, there is only mild effusion and it is not too painful. It does not affect the quality of life or pregnancy. It does not necessarily require treatment. It can also be treated by taking sufficient antibiotics and cooperating with Chinese medicine. If it is pelvic tuberculosis, anti-tuberculosis treatment must be carried out. If not treated, it may cause infertility, afternoon fever or other conditions. Therefore, pelvic tuberculosis should choose different treatments according to the degree of the lesion. If the effusion is caused by a tumor or a malignant tumor, it is very serious and must be treated in time. There are many reasons for pelvic effusion, both physiological and pathological, as follows: 1. Physiological pelvic effusion: When we women do B-ultrasound, we find a small amount of fluid in the pelvic floor, usually less than two to three centimeters deep. This is usually considered a physiological phenomenon because normal people have a certain amount of abdominal effusion. The effusion is affected by gravity and often remains in the rectal pouch, which we call the Douglas cavity. If the amount is not large, it is normal. During the menstrual period, a small amount of menstrual blood will flow back through the fallopian tubes to the pelvic cavity, forming effusion. This is also physiological. In addition, the outflow of follicular fluid during ovulation will also cause a small amount of pelvic effusion. Therefore, if there is a liquid dark area on the pelvic floor with a depth of no more than two or three centimeters, it is basically a normal physiological phenomenon. 2. Pathological pelvic effusion 1. The most common cause is inflammation, because the exudation, hyperplasia, adhesion, etc. of inflammation can cause pelvic floor effusion, and some people even have entrapped effusion. The effusion caused by inflammation can be treated with drugs in mild cases, but severe cases, such as pelvic entrapped effusion, pelvic pain, infertility, etc., require surgical treatment; 2. Endometriosis may also cause pelvic effusion. Repeated adhesions caused by endometriosis can lead to chocolate-like fluid retention in the pelvic floor, and symptoms of pelvic effusion may also appear under B-ultrasound imaging. 3. Pelvic tuberculosis can also cause effusion, manifesting as tuberculous ascites; 4. There are also a small number of people who show symptoms of tumors. Because of pelvic reproductive organ tumors, such as uterine cancer, ovarian cancer, fallopian tube cancer, etc., pelvic water accumulation may occur. Usually pathological effusion is accompanied by some other symptoms, and the amount is increasing. It is not just two or three centimeters deep, so the cause needs to be further clarified. |
