Xiaoling told me that she had seen some claims on the Internet: frequent sex and contact with semen can prevent gynecological diseases, including vaginitis and cervical erosion. She was confused about this and didn't know whether these claims had scientific basis, but she was embarrassed to ask people around her. I smiled and began to answer Xiaoling's doubts. First of all, we must make it clear that so far, the scientific community has not provided conclusive evidence to support that semen can directly prevent gynecological diseases. The occurrence of gynecological diseases is a complex process, which involves personal hygiene habits, the number of sexual partners, the choice of contraceptive methods, the status of the immune system and many other aspects. As a male reproductive fluid, the main function of semen is to provide a living environment and a transportation channel for sperm, not to prevent diseases. However, semen is indeed closely related to gynecological health to some extent.

Studies have shown that normal, regular sex life helps maintain the health of the female reproductive system.

For example, male semen contains antibacterial substances that are comparable to penicillin, which can prevent the synthesis of bacterial ribonucleic acid and inhibit bacterial growth, thereby reducing the risk of gynecological diseases.

In addition, studies have found that allowing semen to enter the vagina regularly once or twice a week and reach the uterus and fallopian tubes through the cervix can disinfect and sterilize these parts.

Regular sexual life can promote blood circulation in the pelvic area and enhance the elasticity of the vaginal wall, which is beneficial to maintaining the balance of the vaginal environment.

But this does not mean that frequent sexual life or reliance on semen can achieve the purpose of preventing gynecological diseases.

In fact, unsafe sexual behavior and poor hygiene habits may increase the risk of sexually transmitted diseases and gynecological inflammation.

Such as bacterial vaginosis, candidal infection, etc., which may be caused by the transmission of bacteria or fungi during sexual intercourse.

In addition, certain sexually transmitted diseases, such as human papillomavirus (HPV) infection, are associated with cervical lesions, and sexual intercourse is one of the common routes of HPV transmission.

I further told her that the correct way to prevent gynecological diseases should be:

Develop good personal hygiene habits, clean the vulva regularly, and avoid using strong irritating lotions.

Choose the appropriate contraceptive method to reduce the risks of unwanted pregnancy and abortion.

Regular gynecological examinations, including cervical smear tests, are recommended to detect and treat potential gynecological diseases early.

Maintain a healthy sex life with a regular sexual partner and avoid unsafe sex.
