What causes bacterial vaginosis?

Bacterial vaginitis may be caused by vaginal flora imbalance, changes in hormone levels, long-term use of antibiotics, excessive use of antibacterial washes, friction from tight clothing, etc., and requires targeted treatment based on specific factors. It is recommended that patients seek medical attention in a timely manner to obtain a clear diagnosis.

1. Vaginal flora imbalance

Under normal circumstances, there are many microorganisms in the vagina, including lactobacilli, gram-positive cocci, and anaerobic bacteria. When these flora are out of balance, it may lead to overgrowth of harmful bacteria, which in turn causes bacterial vaginitis. Adjusting the vaginal microecological environment is the key, such as supplementing probiotic preparations, such as Bifidobacterium triple live capsules, Bacillus subtilis double live bacteria granules, etc.

2. Changes in hormone levels

The decrease in estrogen levels weakens the vaginal wall and makes it more susceptible to pathogens, which increases the risk of bacterial vaginitis. In the case of abnormal hormone levels, you can consider using estrogen drugs for conditioning, such as estradiol valerate tablets, conjugated estrogen tablets, etc.

3. Long-term use of antibiotics

Long-term use of broad-spectrum antibiotics will lead to a decrease in normal flora, which is conducive to the growth of drug-resistant bacteria, thereby inducing bacterial vaginitis. Patients can use anti-anaerobic drugs such as metronidazole and tinidazole for treatment under the guidance of a doctor.

4. Excessive use of antibacterial wash

The chemical components in antibacterial washes may disrupt the normal balance of vaginal flora, causing harmful bacteria to multiply and trigger inflammation. It is recommended to reduce the use of antibacterial washes and replace them with clean water to wash the vulva to meet daily cleaning needs.

5. Friction from tight clothing

Friction from tight clothing can cause poor local blood circulation, which can easily lead to retention of secretions, providing favorable conditions for bacteria and thus inducing infection. Usually, try to wear loose and comfortable cotton underwear and avoid wearing tight clothing made of chemical fiber.

Patients should maintain good personal hygiene habits, change underwear regularly and disinfect it. At the same time, pay attention to avoid frequent use of antibacterial drugs to avoid affecting the balance of vaginal microecology.
