What is the main treatment method for miscarriage caused by cervical relaxation?

Cervical incompetence and cervical relaxation are important causes of recurrent miscarriage and premature birth in mid-pregnancy, accounting for about 15% of habitual miscarriages between 16 and 28 weeks of pregnancy. When is cervical relaxation likely to lead to miscarriage? How to diagnose cervical incompetence before pregnancy? How to avoid miscarriage and premature birth caused by cervical incompetence?

Cervical relaxation usually leads to miscarriage in which month

Normally, the female cervix has good elasticity and can withstand a certain amount of tension, and can easily cope with the pressure from the uterus even in the late pregnancy. However, if the cervix loses its tension or becomes loose, as the pregnancy progresses, the pressure in the uterine cavity gradually increases, and the cervix can hardly withstand such pressure. The fetus will be pulled out of the body under the action of gravity, and the internal cervix, the gate of the uterus, will open prematurely under the pressure of the uterus, which will lead to late miscarriage.

This usually occurs before 24 weeks of pregnancy, and is not associated with other clear factors that lead to uterine contractions and premature birth, such as bleeding, infection, and premature rupture of membranes. The incidence of cervical insufficiency is between 0.1% and 2%, accounting for about 15% of habitual abortions between 16 and 28 weeks of pregnancy.

The main treatment for miscarriage caused by cervical relaxation

1. Late miscarriage caused by relaxation of the internal cervical os often occurs in the same gestational period as the previous miscarriage, so suture ligation must be performed before the gestational week of the previous miscarriage. Before the operation, vaginitis should be ruled out. If there is vaginitis, it should be treated first, and the internal cervical os suture ligation can be performed only after it is cured. When the pregnancy is full-term or there are signs of labor, the sutures can be removed and the fetus can be delivered smoothly.

2. Late miscarriage caused by relaxation of the internal cervical os is caused by the inability of the internal cervical os to withstand the pressure of the uterine cavity, not by uterine contraction. Therefore, progesterone, sedatives and Chinese medicine for preserving pregnancy cannot prevent the expansion and opening of the cervical os, and cannot stop the occurrence and development of miscarriage. Bed rest is often useless. Therefore, once the diagnosis is confirmed, the internal cervical os should be sutured.

Since cervical insufficiency is the biggest enemy of pregnancy, our female friends must pay attention to this problem. Before planning pregnancy at home, you can have a gynecological examination 3 to 7 days after the end of menstruation.
