How to take the medicine for medical abortion? It is divided into these 6 steps

The so-called medical abortion is to use the stimulation of drugs to stop the development of the fertilized egg that has already implanted. At the same time, medical abortion also has oral and external medicines. Medical abortion also has to follow a strict process.

Generally speaking, there are the following steps:

(1) Strict screening before medication, including medical history inquiry, full physical examination and gynecological examination, laboratory tests such as urine pregnancy test, vaginal cleanliness, Trichomonas and fungi, blood routine and blood type, and B-ultrasound examination if necessary.

(2) The doctor will explain in detail the method of taking the medication, the efficacy of the medication, and possible side effects, and the medication can only be used after obtaining the patient's consent.

(3) Currently commonly used dose: Mifepristone dosage is 150-200 mg, which can be taken all at once or in divided doses within 3 days. On the 3rd day, go to the hospital to add prostaglandin preparations: 1 mg of Carprostol suppository placed in the vagina or 600 micrograms of misoprostol taken orally. Observe in the hospital for 6 hours.

(4) Monitoring during abortion: During the hospitalization observation period, in addition to paying attention to blood pressure, pulse, and drug side effects, all urine and feces must be kept in a clean bedpan. A dedicated person will check and record the presence of a gestational sac and the time of its expulsion, the size of the gestational sac, and the amount of bleeding. If there is active bleeding before or after the expulsion of the gestational sac, uterotonics can be given or curettage can be performed immediately to stop the bleeding.

(5) If the fetal sac has not been expelled after 6 hours of observation and the bleeding is not serious, you can go home and follow up on the date specified by the doctor. If the tissue is expelled at home, it must be brought to the doctor for examination. It usually takes three to four days to terminate an unexpected pregnancy with medical abortion. Generally, the medication for medical abortion needs to be taken for 4 days, on an empty stomach, one tablet each morning and evening for the first three days, and three tablets at a time on the fourth day. Generally, there is no feeling in the first three days, but the pain is more severe after taking the medicine on the fourth day. Some people do not react significantly.

Not only does medical abortion take a long time, but it also generally requires about 2 weeks of rest. After medical abortion, you should pay attention to vaginal bleeding. Once the amount of vaginal bleeding is greater than the usual menstrual volume or is accompanied by other discomfort symptoms, you must go to the hospital in time to avoid unnecessary trouble to your health.
