As we all know, after giving birth, women need to stay in confinement for the body to recover as soon as possible. For women who have had a miscarriage, there is such a question: Do they need to stay in confinement for a period of time after a miscarriage? In fact, the body is very weak after miscarriage, and there are many things that need attention. Let's learn about it. Just like full-term birth, after miscarriage, the uterus will also undergo a process of involution, including the cervix and vagina will gradually return to their original size. However, due to the shorter pregnancy weeks, there is almost no perineal wound, the recovery speed is relatively fast, and the pressure on the pelvic floor muscles and the impact on the bladder and urethra is relatively small. However, miscarriages of more than 3 months will cause continuous swelling of the breasts and secretion of milk. Therefore, experts remind women that it is very important to take a short confinement and pay attention to conditioning their bodies after miscarriage. "Spontaneous miscarriage" refers to miscarriage that occurs naturally before 20 weeks of pregnancy, or when the embryo or fetus weighs less than 500 grams (defined as less than 1000 grams in some European countries). More than 80% of miscarriages occur in the first 12 weeks of pregnancy (i.e. the first 3 months), and chromosomal abnormalities account for at least half of early miscarriages. The risk of spontaneous abortion also increases with the number of mothers who have had a baby; similarly, the older the parents are, the higher the risk. Studies have also found that if a mother becomes pregnant within 3 months after a full-term birth, the rate of spontaneous abortion is also higher. If the causes of recurrent miscarriage are excluded as autoimmune antibodies and incomplete cervical closure, the chance of recurrence is not particularly high. If a woman has previously given birth to a live birth, the risk of repeated miscarriage is 30%. In contrast, if a woman has never given birth to a live birth and has had at least one spontaneous miscarriage, the chance of another miscarriage rises to 46%. For women who have had three or more spontaneous miscarriages, the risk of premature birth, placenta previa, malposition of the fetus, and fetal abnormalities is higher in future pregnancies. Just like induced abortion, premature birth and caesarean section, spontaneous abortion requires confinement period, but the length of time is different. For mothers who have premature birth, spontaneous birth or caesarean section, the best confinement period is 45 to 60 days. Mothers who have spontaneous abortion or induced abortion should rest and recuperate for about 21 to 30 days. |
