What is fallopian tube tuberculosis and how is it treated?

Tubal tuberculosis is an inflammatory disease of the fallopian tubes in the female reproductive organs caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. It mostly occurs in women aged 20 to 40. When it occurs, it may cause symptoms such as irregular menstruation and infertility in women. The current treatment methods for this disease are mainly anti-tuberculosis drug therapy and surgical therapy. It is generally recommended that patients with severe conditions choose surgical treatment.

The female fallopian tube is a very important organ and tissue. Once there is any problem with the fallopian tube, the woman is likely to become infertile in the future. Therefore, in life, every woman should take good care of her fallopian tube, and should have a detailed understanding of the diseases related to the fallopian tube. So what is fallopian tube tuberculosis?
1. Pathology of Tubal Tuberculosis Tubal tuberculosis is an inflammatory disease of the fallopian tubes in the female reproductive organs caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The disease mostly occurs in women aged 20 to 40, and of course a small number of cases occur in elderly women after menopause. Because the onset of the disease can cause serious damage to the fallopian tubes of women, many patients will have obvious menstrual disorders after the onset of the disease. As the disease progresses, the uterus and endometrium in the female body will be affected. If not treated in time, there may be obvious increase in vaginal discharge and infertility in the later stage.
Treatment of fallopian tube tuberculosis
1. Anti-tuberculosis drug therapy
Anti-tuberculosis drug therapy is currently the most commonly used treatment for fallopian tube tuberculosis. It is often divided into long-term standard treatment and short-term therapy according to the severity of the patient's condition. The basic principle of short-term therapy is to quickly kill the tuberculosis bacteria in the patient's body to achieve a curative effect. The drugs used in short-term therapy mainly include ethambutol and rifampicin. For patients with more serious conditions or complications such as tuberculous peritonitis, the dosage can be increased according to the severity of their own condition.
2. Surgical treatment
If the patient's disease recurs or the endometrium has been extensively damaged and other treatments are ineffective, then it is generally recommended that the patient choose surgical treatment. Surgical treatments mainly include bilateral adnexectomy and hysterectomy. If the woman does not have any fertility needs in the future, hysterectomy can be considered.
