What tests are needed to confirm cervical lesions?

If you are worried about cervical lesions, you can go to the hospital for some detailed examinations, including histopathology, electronic colposcopy biopsy, TCT thin-layer liquid-based cytology, colposcopy and acetic acid naked eye observation. These examination methods can effectively confirm whether there are cervical lesions and then provide targeted treatment.

The female cervix is a very important organ. If you do not pay attention to personal hygiene, bacteria or germs may enter, resulting in lesions and cervical diseases. Therefore, in order to avoid cervical lesions, you should go to the hospital regularly for relevant examinations so that you can detect the disease in time. So, what examinations are needed to confirm cervical lesions?
1. Histopathological examination
First, a histopathological examination can be performed. If an abnormality is found during the colposcopy, a biopsy should be performed under the guidance of special chromosomes, and multiple biopsies can be performed at the site of the suspected lesion. Then a histopathological examination is performed separately to confirm whether there is a lesion in the cervix.
2. Electronic colposcopy biopsy
You can use colposcopy to examine the cervix, so that you can find abnormal areas as early as possible, and then use biopsy forceps to remove the tissue in the abnormal area of the cervix surface for biopsy. After the biopsy, you may experience short-term pain and mild cramps and bleeding, but this is generally normal and will disappear after a period of time.
3. TCT thin-layer liquid-based cytology test
It can perform TCT thin-layer liquid-based cytology examination. First, you need to observe the cervical exfoliated cells under a microscope to see if there are any abnormalities. At the same time, it is recommended to perform HPV testing at the same time, which will be more accurate.
4. Colposcopy
If the Pap test shows abnormal cells, a colposcopy is recommended. A microscope is placed in the vagina to help the doctor see the cervix and then examine it. A colposcopy is an instrument that is kept outside the body. Women may feel uncomfortable during this examination, but it is a very safe examination method. It can be performed even if you are pregnant, but it is not recommended to be performed during menstruation.
5. Visual observation with acetic acid
It is recommended to use acetic acid for visual observation, which is to apply 3% to 5% acetic acid solution to the cervix, and then observe the reaction of the cervical epithelium to acetic acid. If it turns white, it means that it is caused by protein coagulation. Then you need to apply compound iodine solution. If it is an abnormal lesion, iodine will not stain it, and a biopsy can be taken at the site of the lesion.
