Can a blood test detect an ectopic pregnancy?

As we all know, there are many ways to test pregnancy, and blood test is one of them. It has a very high accuracy rate and is one of the commonly used clinical methods. For pregnant women, we must pay attention to the occurrence of ectopic pregnancy. Ectopic pregnancy is extremely lethal to expectant mothers. If acute intra-abdominal bleeding occurs, syncope and shock will occur, endangering life. So, can blood test detect ectopic pregnancy?

Blood test can't detect ectopic pregnancy <br/>Ectopic pregnancy blood test can detect pregnancy, but it can't confirm whether it is ectopic pregnancy. Although the HCG content in the blood will be lower than that in normal pregnancy during ectopic pregnancy, it can only determine the possibility, not the actual diagnosis.
How to detect ectopic pregnancy
1. Blood HCG: There are many ways to check for ectopic pregnancy, and blood HCG test is one of them that can help to exclude it. If the blood HCG level is lower than that of normal pregnancy after several consecutive checks, it can indicate the possibility of ectopic pregnancy, but reliable and accurate judgment still needs to be combined with B-ultrasound examination, so blood test cannot determine whether it is ectopic pregnancy.
2. Ultrasound examination: Ultrasound examination is the most accurate and reliable method to diagnose ectopic pregnancy. Ultrasound examination can clearly see the location, size and shape of the gestational sac, as well as the embryo and fetal heart rate. It can determine whether it is a single pregnancy or a multiple pregnancy, understand whether it is a normal intrauterine pregnancy, and exclude the possibility of abnormal pregnancy.
Women in early pregnancy should go to the hospital for B-ultrasound examination to exclude ectopic pregnancy as early as 5 weeks of pregnancy. If you experience abnormal symptoms of ectopic pregnancy such as lower abdominal pain, vaginal bleeding, sudden fainting, shock, etc. in early pregnancy, you should see a doctor immediately to check the cause. If an ectopic pregnancy ruptures, there will be tearing pain on one side of the lower abdomen, and there may be heavy vaginal bleeding. The situation is very critical and should not be ignored.
