What is adnexitis

What is adnexitis

Adnexitis is very common, but there are still a large number of women who do not have a thorough understanding of adnexitis. Due to insufficient knowledge of the disease, the disease is not taken seriously in the early stages of the disease, which eventually leads to severe inflammation and repeated attacks. Let's take a look at what is adnexitis?

What is adnexitis?

Among the female internal reproductive organs, the fallopian tubes and ovaries are called appendages. Therefore, adnexitis is the inflammation of these two organs. Is adnexitis on the left or right? Whether adnexitis is on the left or right depends on the specific situation of the patient. Because adnexitis can occur on one side or on both sides, it requires further examination of the patient to determine.

What tests should be done for adnexitis?

1. Examination of acute adnexitis

Adnexitis is often accompanied by tenderness and pain, and during examination, the leucorrhea may be pus-like or mucous. Patients with adnexitis will have inflammatory masses in the fallopian tubes and ovaries, and the boundaries are not clear during examination.

2. Chronic adnexitis examination

During pelvic examination, there is thickening on both sides of the uterus, and there is pain when pressing on the lower abdomen. Sometimes large cystic masses can be felt when pressing.

3. Ultrasound examination

Generally, there is no obvious abnormality in B-ultrasound examination of adnexitis. Only when hydrosalpinx forms a cyst, an obvious mass may be found by ultrasound.
