What should be paid attention to in the daily care of hyperprolactinemia?

Hyperprolactinemia is the most common pituitary disease, with galactorrhea and hypogonadism as prominent manifestations. Female patients may have decreased libido and loss of sexual desire, which will be relieved after treatment as PRL levels decrease. Male patients mainly show decreased libido and impotence, and in severe cases, body hair loss, testicular atrophy, decreased sperm count and even azoospermia may occur. It is extremely harmful to people, so it is necessary to detect and treat it early, and pay more attention to daily care. Below, we will introduce what should be paid attention to in the daily care of hyperprolactinemia.

Hyperprolactinemia precautions are as follows:

1. Treat primary diseases (pituitary tumors, hypothyroidism and Cushing's syndrome), try to avoid adverse mental stimulation, and reduce or avoid the use of drugs that increase prolactin.

2. Try to avoid adverse mental stimulation.

3. Reduce or avoid the use of drugs that increase prolactin.

4. Dairy products should be avoided in the diet. Yogurt, dairy products, sugar and meat can easily cause skin fever, so dairy products should be avoided as much as possible in the diet.

5. Long-term follow-up of patients with hyperprolactinemia should be noted, as a small number of patients may even develop pituitary tumors 10 to 20 years later.

6. For patients with idiopathic hyperprolactinemia, slightly elevated prolactin, regular menstruation, unaffected ovarian function, no galactorrhea, and no impact on normal life, no treatment is necessary, but regular follow-up examinations should be conducted to observe clinical manifestations and changes in PRL.
