Follow-up care after surgery for Bartholinitis

Bartholinitis refers to inflammation caused by pathogens invading the Bartholin glands. This disease is more common in women of childbearing age. Due to the anatomical location of the Bartholin glands, they are located in the deep 1/3 of the labia majora on both sides, and the gland duct opens between the hymen and the labia minora. Inflammation is prone to occur when the vulva is contaminated during sexual intercourse, childbirth, etc. So how to care for Bartholinitis?

Experts point out that the following points should be noted in the care of Bartholinitis:

1. When caring for Bartholin's glanditis, you should pay attention to your diet, avoid spicy and irritating foods, eat a light diet, and eat more nutritious and easily digestible foods.

2. In the care of Bartholin's glands, attention should be paid to keeping the vulva clean. Sexual intercourse is prohibited during menstruation and the postpartum period. Use sterilized sanitary napkins during menstruation to prevent infection.

3. In the acute stage of Bartholinitis care, patients should stay in bed to avoid pain. Local cold compress can be used to relieve pain.

4. For the care of Bartholin's gland inflammation, you can choose to take a sitz bath with a 1:5000 potassium permanganate solution. Take 15 to 20 minutes each time, twice a day. You can also choose oral antibiotics according to the pathogen, and you must take them according to the course of treatment.

5. For vestibular glanditis, incision and drainage and ostomy should be performed, dressings should be changed once a day, and the vulva should be scrubbed with 1:20 iodine stock solution twice a day. When the secretion decreases, 1:5000 potassium permanganate can be used for sitz bath to promote healing, but attention should be paid to the concentration, temperature and time of the solution.

Experts remind: In the acute stage of Bartholinitis, you should stay in bed and rest, pay attention to local cleaning, local cold compress, and use antibiotics. If Bartholinitis has formed an abscess, it should be incised and drained immediately. The incision should be made at the thinnest part of the skin. Generally, a half arc incision is made on the inner side of the labia majora to drain the pus. Various methods for treating Bartholin's gland cysts can also be used to treat Bartholinitis.
