What are the symptoms of Bartholinitis?

What are the symptoms of Bartholinitis?

Bartholinitis is a gynecological inflammation caused by pathogen infection. If it is not treated in time, it will cause acute suppurative inflammation and become Bartholin's gland abscess. Bartholinitis is a common gynecological vulvar disease, and it is more common in women of childbearing age. So what are the symptoms of Bartholinitis?

1. Redness, swelling, hard masses, pain, burning sensation, obvious tenderness, urination pain, difficulty walking, and sometimes difficulty urinating and defecating are found in the posterior 1/3 of the labia majora. It is usually unilateral, but occasionally bilateral.

2. After that, the skin on the surface of the mass becomes thinner, the surrounding tissue becomes edematous, there is a sense of fluctuation, and it develops into an abscess. The size of the mass varies, mostly the size of an egg. It is often accompanied by enlarged inguinal lymph nodes. Severe cases may have systemic symptoms such as fever and headache.

3. If the above symptoms are not treated, the abscess may rupture on its own.

When the pressure inside the abscess increases, the surface skin becomes thinner and the abscess bursts on its own

① If the hole is large, it can drain by itself, and the inflammation will subside quickly and heal.

② If the wound is small, the pus cannot be completely drained and the lesion may recur.

Again, how should Bartholinitis be diagnosed clinically?

Experts say that symptoms of Bartholinitis include pain and swelling on one side of the vulva, often accompanied by chills, fever, and chills. The lower 1/3 of the labia majora is red, tender, and swollen. If an abscess forms, an egg-sized lump can be seen, with a sense of fluctuation and can rupture on its own. The lymph nodes in the corresponding area are swollen.

Experts say that in clinical diagnosis of Bartholinitis, it is generally not difficult to diagnose based on medical history, local appearance and digital examination. However, attention should also be paid to any abnormalities in the urethral opening and paraurethral glands.
