Can endometrial thickening be cured?

Endometrial thickening is a pathological change in which the endometrium, glands, and stroma are overproliferated and can occur in women during adolescence, childbearing age, and even menopause. As can be seen, such common endometrial thickening should not be underestimated. As for what kind of endometrial thickening is serious, we need to analyze its biopsy report.

Endometrial biopsy reports often show several conditions, such as endometritis, endometrial polyps, simple hyperplasia, recurrent hyperplasia, atypical hyperplasia, etc. Among them, "inflammatory lesions in the endometrium" indicates that endometritis often occurs; "endometrial polypoid lesions" indicate endometrial polyps.

If the endometrial biopsy report indicates endometritis, active anti-inflammatory treatment is needed; routine analysis and culture of the secretions are required. If mycoplasma, chlamydia, gonococci, etc. are found, active drug sensitivity testing is required and sensitive antibiotics should be selected for treatment; if the biopsy indicates endometrial polyps, and the patient's polyps are relatively large and affect the couple's sex life, surgery can be performed to remove the polyps.

In addition to these two most common ones, which can be treated with general medications or minor surgery, let's look at several other biopsy reports of endometrial thickening:

Simple hyperplasia of the endometrium is manifested by the simultaneous hyperplasia of the endometrium, glands, and stroma under the microscope. The glands will appear in different sizes and have relatively smooth contours. Although glandular epithelial cells have no heterosexuality, there is still a 1% chance that they will develop into endometrial cancer; therefore, in order to prevent this 1%, timely treatment is required in the case of simple hyperplasia. If the endometrial thickening is not relieved after three menstrual cycles of treatment with progesterone, you can take traditional Chinese medicine that "strengthens the spleen and eliminates dampness, promotes blood circulation and qi, and clears away heat and detoxifies", such as Fuyan Pills and Guizhi Fuling Pills, which have relatively good clinical effects in treating endometrial thickening.

The microscopic manifestations of complex endometrial hyperplasia are similar to and different from those of simple hyperplasia. The similarity is that the glandular epithelial cells are also non-heterogeneous. The difference is that the glands of complex hyperplasia are highly proliferative, bean sprout-shaped or papillary, and the glands are no longer smooth but irregular and crowded. If there is no systematic treatment, there is a 3% chance of developing into cancer. Therefore, for complex endometrial hyperplasia, you can take the progesterone, Fuyan Pills, Guizhi Fuling Pills and other treatments mentioned above, and the prognosis is good.

Atypical hyperplasia of the endometrium is a precancerous lesion. The main difference between simple hyperplasia and complex hyperplasia is that the glandular epithelial cells are no longer atypical but atypical, which is the key to diagnosis. In addition, the lesions of atypical hyperplasia of the endometrium are focal and confined to the epithelium, and the surrounding endometrium is normal or atrophic. At the same time, data show that the thickness of the endometrium of patients with atypical hyperplasia or endometrial cancer, especially menopausal women, is mostly between 16mm and 27mm.
