What are the treatments for amenorrhea?

There are many ways to treat amenorrhea. According to different types of amenorrhea, choosing a reasonable method for symptomatic treatment is the key. It is also the basic principle of treatment. The general treatment is for temporary amenorrhea caused by environmental changes and mental trauma, which can be adjusted by strengthening nutrition, strengthening physical fitness, avoiding mental stress and excessive fatigue, etc. For those who have amenorrhea caused by oral contraceptives, the medication should be stopped for observation.

Choose different treatment methods according to different symptoms. For endometrial tuberculosis, anti-tuberculosis drugs are given. Endocrine therapy is suitable for amenorrhea caused by congenital gonadal dysplasia, ovarian dysfunction, hypopituitarism, premature ovarian failure, etc.; estrogen therapy is used for younger patients with lower estrogen levels; progesterone therapy is used for patients with a certain amount of estrogen secretion; estrogen-progesterone therapy is suitable for sequential use of estrogen and progesterone to induce menstrual-like withdrawal bleeding.

There is also surgical treatment. Indications include: dilation of the cervix, separation of adhesions, and placement of an intrauterine device to prevent re-adhesion in cases of uterine cavity adhesions; surgical treatment is feasible for tumors in the ovary, pituitary gland, and other parts.

If you find symptoms of amenorrhea, you should go to the hospital for examination in time. According to the medical history and physical examination, related auxiliary examinations, hormone testing, etc., find out the cause of amenorrhea. Different treatments are given according to different causes. Some patients can resume menstruation naturally after physical and mental adjustments or stopping contraceptives, and some patients can resume after using progesterone, artificial cycles and ovulation induction treatment.
