Beware of the 6 major hazards of uterine fibroids

Uterine fibroids are a benign tumor that occurs on the smooth muscle of the uterus. Regardless of the size or degree of the fibroids, they will cause certain damage to the female body.

1. Causes pain

The pain is not obvious in the early stage, but as the fibroids continue to grow, the patient may experience various compressive pains, which manifest as lower limb edema or neuralgia, lower abdominal and waist pain.

2. Abnormal leucorrhea

Increased vaginal discharge, such as increased vaginal discharge caused by endometrial edema; bloody or smelly vaginal discharge, or smelly submucosal fibroids that produce a large amount of bloody or smelly vaginal discharge.

3. Secondary anemia

Uterine fibroids can cause menstrual disorders in patients. Long-term excessive menstruation in patients can lead to secondary anemia and even anemic heart disease. In severe cases, symptoms such as general fatigue, pale complexion, shortness of breath, and palpitations may occur.

4. Concurrent inflammation

Causes such as bleeding can lead to pathogenic bacteria causing gynecological inflammation such as adnexitis and pelvic inflammatory disease. Complications of fibroids are mostly caused by tumor pedicle torsion or acute endometritis. Inflammation is sometimes purulent, and a few can form abscesses in the tissue.

5. Pedicle torsion occurs

Subserosal myomas may twist at the pedicle, causing acute abdominal pain. If severe pedicle torsion is not treated promptly and effectively, the pedicle may be broken off and a free myoma may be formed.

6. Cause malignant transformation

Uterine fibroids are less likely to become malignant, but there is still a certain chance. Older people with large and fast-growing fibroids, especially those with rapidly growing fibroids after menopause or those with recurrent fibroids after menopause, should be more vigilant.
