The main causes of delayed menstruation

Delayed menstruation is a major symptom of irregular menstruation, and its main causes are the following four.

1. Ovarian and uterine lesions

Ovarian and uterine diseases such as ovarian cysts, uterine fibroids, and adenomyosis can lead to delayed menstruation, and are the main manifestations of many patients in the early stages of the disease. If these primary diseases can be treated well, the menstrual cycle will naturally return to normal.

2. Cervical adhesion

Cervical adhesion is a common cause of delayed menstruation. If not treated in time, it is likely to turn into endometriosis. Delayed menstruation caused by cervical adhesion does not mean that menstruation is really delayed, but that there is menstrual blood during the normal menstrual period, but it cannot be discharged normally due to cervical adhesion and can only gather in the uterus. When the blood gathers to a certain extent, it will break through the adhesion band and be discharged. Most patients will have periodic abdominal pain symptoms and need to go to the hospital for cervical dilation surgery in time.

3. Premature ovarian failure

Premature ovarian failure is mainly caused by abnormal ovarian function. If not treated in time, patients will suffer from serious symptoms such as amenorrhea or even infertility, and are often accompanied by menopausal-like phenomena such as vaginal dryness, difficulty in sexual intercourse, hot flashes and insomnia.

4. Chronic diseases

Chronic diseases such as chronic hepatitis, tuberculosis, tumors, hypothyroidism, etc. can often cause malnutrition in women and lead to delayed menstruation.
