Abdominal muscle tension can help early identification of acute pelvic inflammatory disease

Pelvic inflammatory disease causes great distress to many women and even causes infertility, seriously affecting the relationship between couples. Early detection of pelvic inflammatory disease symptoms, such as tense abdominal muscles, can provide the best treatment opportunity for later treatment.

Abdominal muscle tension is a symptom characterized by tenderness and rebound pain in the lower abdomen on both sides, which is more common in patients with acute pelvic inflammatory disease. Internal medicine diagnosis can show uterine enlargement, tenderness, and pelvic masses. Once an abscess is formed, the patient will also experience a lower abdominal mass and local compression and irritation symptoms, and the symptoms of the patient will vary greatly depending on the location of the mass. If the mass is located in the front, most patients will experience bladder irritation symptoms such as difficulty urinating, frequent urination, and painful urination; if the mass is located in the back, most patients will experience rectal irritation symptoms such as diarrhea, tenesmus, and difficulty defecation. In addition, the symptoms of abdominal muscle tension in patients with pelvic inflammatory disease are often accompanied by symptoms such as increased body temperature, increased heart rate, abdominal distension, decreased appetite, and increased leucorrhea.

It should be noted that abdominal muscle tension caused by pelvic inflammatory disease needs to be differentiated from abdominal muscle tension caused by peritonitis. The abdominal muscle tension in patients with peritonitis is typically characterized by a "board-like abdomen", which is mainly caused by sudden chemical stimulation such as gastric acid and bile, and is generally common in young and middle-aged patients. Some patients also experience abdominal muscle tension due to pelvic inflammation involving the peritoneum.
