Effects of fungal and bacterial vaginosis on pregnancy

Effects of fungal and bacterial vaginosis on pregnancy

There are two common types of vaginitis during pregnancy, and the impact of each type of vaginitis on pregnancy is also very different.

1. Fungal vaginitis

If expectant mothers suffer from mild candidal vaginitis within the first three months of pregnancy, they generally do not need special treatment for their own health and the fetus. However, if the inflammation develops seriously, medication can be used as appropriate after three months of pregnancy to prevent adverse effects such as infection on the fetus. If the fetus has local infection symptoms such as eyes or mouth after delivery, it may be caused by fungal invasion when the fetus passes through the birth canal. In addition, expectant mothers will have some local symptoms after suffering from candidal vaginitis, which seriously affect their normal life, such as obvious symptoms of vaginal itching, often accompanied by local burning pain; painful urination, accompanied by frequent urination, urgency and other symptoms.

2. Bacterial vaginosis

Pregnant women should take effective treatment measures immediately after suffering from bacterial vaginitis. Otherwise, if it is allowed to develop, the bacteria may go up along the cervix and cause premature rupture of membranes, or even cause serious consequences such as premature birth. In addition, the treatment of bacterial vaginitis during pregnancy should be carried out under the guidance of a professional doctor, and individualized treatment measures should be selected according to the severity of the symptoms and the health status of the pregnant woman. In addition, after suffering from bacterial vaginitis, pregnant women will gradually develop some local abnormal symptoms, which will affect their normal life and mood, such as increased leucorrhea accompanied by the smell of rotten eggs; obvious vulvar itching, mostly accompanied by a burning sensation.
