What are the causes of amenorrhea in women?

Amenorrhea is directly related to the female ovaries. When the female ovaries have problems and cannot function normally, the secretion of estrogen is affected, and of course menstruation is also affected. There are many reasons for amenorrhea, which are roughly as follows:

Amenorrhea caused by environmental factors

It is a temporary endocrine dysfunction and menstruation will generally resume naturally within 6 months.

Pituitary amenorrhea

In addition to amenorrhea, these patients have other symptoms. For example, Sheehan's syndrome caused by postpartum hemorrhage is accompanied by pubic hair loss, vulvar atrophy, etc. in addition to amenorrhea; those caused by pituitary prolactinoma are accompanied by breast milk discharge in addition to amenorrhea.

Ovarian amenorrhea

This type of amenorrhea is very common, such as demenstrual syndrome, ovarian cysts, ovarian tumors, polycystic ovary syndrome, premature ovarian failure and endocrine dysfunction caused by various reasons resulting in ovarian anovulation.

Frequent abortions

Some women have several abortions in a year, and the endometrium is scraped thin, which cannot be restored in a short period of time. If the basal layer of the endometrium is completely damaged, it can lead to permanent amenorrhea, while partial damage can cause temporary amenorrhea.

Fear before surgery, fear of abortion or mental burden caused by inability to conceive and give birth, especially feeling ashamed of being pregnant before marriage. If such emotions are not changed after surgery, it may lead to amenorrhea. Having sex and bathing too early after surgery. Some women have sex with their husbands a few days after surgery, or take baths without listening to the doctor's advice, causing bacteria to invade the vagina and uterus, resulting in uterine cavity infection, irregular menstruation and amenorrhea.

Generally speaking, physiological amenorrhea is a normal physiological phenomenon, but some amenorrhea is a disease, especially secondary amenorrhea. Patients should be vigilant about this and seek medical treatment in time.
