Causes of various abortion complications

Causes of various abortion complications

Some complications may occur during and after abortion, such as intraoperative bleeding, postoperative infection, etc. The main causes of the above complications include:

1. Comprehensive reaction to artificial abortion

The occurrence of the complex reaction of induced abortion is mainly due to the mechanical stimulation of the cervix or uterus causing vagus nerve excitement. It is also related to factors such as the mental tension of pregnant women and their inability to tolerate cervical canal dilation, traction or excessive negative pressure.

2. Uterine perforation

The occurrence of uterine perforation is closely related to the operator's operating technique and the condition of the uterus itself (such as pregnant uterus during lactation, pregnancy again in a scarred uterus after cesarean section, etc.).

3. Bleeding during surgery

It often occurs in the advanced stages of pregnancy, mainly because the tissue cannot be discharged quickly, affecting uterine contraction.

4. Incomplete uterine aspiration

Its occurrence is often related to the operator's unskilled technique, excessive uterine curvature or uterine malformation.

5. Leakage

It occurs because the gestational sac is too small, the uterus is over-flexed, or the uterus is malformed.

6. Amniotic fluid embolism

It is related to cervical injury and placental detachment, which causes the blood sinuses to open and allow amniotic fluid to enter the blood.

7. Postoperative infection

It is mostly caused by incomplete uterine aspiration or premature sexual intercourse after miscarriage. It may also be caused by incomplete disinfection of instruments and dressings or lack of sterile concept during operation.

8. Bleeding after abortion

Its occurrence is related to factors such as residual tissue inside the uterine cavity, poor uterine contraction, uterine cavity infection or coagulation dysfunction.

9. Adhesions in the uterine cavity or cervical os

It is mostly caused by rough suction movements, repeated operations on the cervical canal, repeated entry and exit of the cervical canal with negative pressure, and healing of endometrial and cervical infections.
