Understand cervical knowledge and be familiar with cervical erosion

The cervix is one of the important tissues and organs in the female reproductive system. It is located in the lower part of the uterus and is approximately cone-shaped. The upper end is connected to the uterine body, and the lower end extends deep into the vagina. From the embryo and female fetus to the old woman, it involves disease prevention and health care issues in gynecology, obstetrics, family planning, women's health and reproductive health throughout a woman's life, and is also closely related to sex and reproduction.

The cervix itself has multiple defense functions, including mucosal immunity, humoral immunity, and cellular immunity, and is an important line of defense to prevent pathogens from the lower reproductive tract from entering the upper reproductive tract. However, the cervix is also easily damaged by sexual intercourse, childbirth, and intrauterine operation, and the single-layer columnar epithelium of the cervical canal has poor anti-infection ability and is prone to infection. When women have chronic cervicitis, they may experience symptoms of cervical erosion.

At present, the term "cervical erosion" has been abandoned in the West and renamed as cervical columnar epithelial ectopia, which is considered not a pathological change. For many years, my country has divided cervical erosion into pathological inflammatory erosion and pseudo-erosion (due to the increase of estrogen levels in adolescent and pregnant women, the cervical columnar epithelium proliferates and moves outward, and the external cervical opening can be seen to be red). According to the depth of erosion, it is divided into 3 types: simple type, granular type and papillary type; according to the size of the erosion surface, it is divided into 3 degrees: mild, moderate and severe, or degree I, degree II and degree III.
