Indications and contraindications for abortion

Artificial abortion, also known as artificial abortion, is a last resort remedial measure taken by women when contraception fails. Common methods of artificial abortion include artificial vacuum aspiration, medical abortion, etc. Various surgical methods have their corresponding indications and contraindications, mainly including the following:

1. Artificial negative pressure aspiration

Indications: This method is applicable to women who wish to terminate pregnancy within 10 weeks of pregnancy without contraindications; and women who are not suitable to continue pregnancy due to certain diseases at 10 weeks of pregnancy.

Contraindications: Patients with untreated or uncured genital organ inflammation such as vaginitis, cervicitis, and endometritis; patients who cannot withstand surgery due to systemic diseases such as heart failure, tuberculosis, and severe anemia; patients with uncorrected acidosis caused by severe vomiting during pregnancy; patients with a body temperature of 37.5°C twice within 4 hours before surgery.

2. Medical abortion

Indications: Normal intrauterine pregnancy, gestational age within 7 weeks; high-risk abortion candidates; those who are afraid of surgery.

Contraindications:

Contraindications of mifepristone include endocrine diseases, benign or malignant tumors of various organs, abnormal liver and kidney function, blood and thrombotic diseases, etc.

Contraindications to prostaglandin drugs include people with heart disease, glaucoma, asthma, gastrointestinal dysfunction, allergic constitution; those who are pregnant with an intrauterine contraceptive device; those with suspected ectopic pregnancy; those who are too far away from medical institutions and cannot receive timely medical treatment, etc.
