What are the dangers of uterine fibroids

Uterine fibroids are the most common benign tumors of the female genitalia. Most of them are asymptomatic. Some patients may experience vaginal bleeding, abdominal masses, and compression symptoms. If not treated in time, it will cause a variety of harms, mainly including the following aspects:

1. Infertility or miscarriage

If the fibroid tissue appears in the uterine corner, it can compress the entrance of the fallopian tube, preventing sperm from going up to the fallopian tube to combine with the egg, which in turn affects conception; it can cause the uterus to deform, hindering the implantation of the fertilized egg and hindering conception. In addition, according to relevant statistics, the spontaneous abortion rate of patients with uterine fibroids is also higher than that of normal people, with a ratio of about 4:1.

2. Cause gynecological inflammation

Uterine fibroids can cause pelvic congestion and infection, and most infections caused by fibroids are caused by pedicle torsion. After infection, abscesses may form in the fibroid tissue of a few patients, and suppuration may occur. At the same time, pathogenic bacteria after fibroid infection can invade other adjacent organs, causing gynecological diseases such as adnexitis and pelvic inflammatory disease.

3. Secondary anemia

Uterine fibroids can cause excessive menstrual bleeding. Over time, patients will develop secondary anemia, manifested by symptoms such as general fatigue, pale complexion, palpitations and shortness of breath.

4. Malignant lesions

It is relatively rare, but a small number of women can still see malignant transformation of uterine fibroids. Therefore, attention should be paid when uterine fibroids grow too rapidly or when uterine fibroids appear in postmenopausal women.
