Long-term constipation can cause adnexitis

Constipation is a common thing in life. Getting angry, anxiety, lack of sleep, etc. can all lead to constipation. Constipation may seem like a minor illness, but if you don't pay attention to it, it can lead to big trouble.

Constipation refers to a condition in which the stool is hard to pass, the time for defecation is prolonged, or the stool is too dry to pass. Constipation seems to have nothing to do with female adnexitis (salpingitis, oophoritis), but medical research in recent years has shown that long-term constipation can indeed lead to salpingitis.

From an anatomical point of view, a woman's uterus, fallopian tubes, ovaries and other internal reproductive organs are located in the pelvic cavity, adjacent to the bladder in the front and close to the intestinal tract in the back and on the left and right sides. In particular, the right fallopian tube is close to the appendix and cecum, while the left fallopian tube is close to the sigmoid colon and rectum.

If constipation is not treated for a long time, various bacteria, viruses, fungi and other pathogens in the excreta in the intestine can directly invade the left fallopian tube and ovary through the capillaries and lymphatic vessels, causing inflammation. For patients with milder conditions, the symptoms are not obvious because adnexitis progresses slowly; but for patients with more severe conditions, they are often accompanied by lower abdominal pain, back pain, excessive vaginal discharge, menorrhagia, dysmenorrhea and pain during sexual intercourse. In addition, the lumen of the fallopian tube is relatively thin. Once the fallopian tube is blocked by inflammation, it will hinder the meeting of sperm and egg, causing infertility.
