Treatment of Amenorrhea and Infertility with Traditional Chinese Medicine

Xiao Yang got married right after graduating from college. Now she is 27 years old but her belly is still not moving. Xiao Yang has always had the problem of delayed menstruation, so she has always worried that the problem lies with herself. Now, she has not had her period for more than four months. At first, Xiao Yang thought she was pregnant, but after repeated checks, she still did not find out. So, one weekend, Xiao Yang asked her husband to accompany her to the hospital for a comprehensive examination.

After gynecological examination, Xiao Yang was diagnosed with secondary amenorrhea. She had a small amount of vaginal discharge, no other discomfort, pale tongue, thin white fur, and deep and fine pulse. Diagnosis: infertility, amenorrhea. Treatment is mainly to warm the meridians and dispel cold, activate blood circulation and remove blood stasis.

Prescription: cinnamon bark, evodia rutaecarpa, chuanxiong, angelica, red peony root, moutan bark, dried ginger, cyperus, pinellia tuber, codonopsis, epimedium, peach kernel, safflower, agarwood, and licorice. After Xiao Yang took three doses of the medicine, her menstruation still did not come, so the doctor added three-edged atractylodes and curcuma to the above prescription.

After Xiao Yang took 3 more doses, her menstruation came, but the amount was small. After the menstruation ended, the doctor changed to a medicine that nourishes the liver and kidneys, nourishes the blood and activates blood circulation, and proposed to add flavors to the "Aiding Pregnancy Decoction" to treat her. Prescription: Angelica, Rehmannia glutinosa, White Peony Root, Chuanxiong, Cyperus rotundus, Cuscuta chinensis, Poria, Epimedium, Agarwood, Codonopsis pilosula, Cinnamon bark, Evodia rutaecarpa, and Roasted Licorice.

After taking 6 doses, Xiao Yang's menstruation was normal for 2 months. She continued to take the medicine intermittently. A few months later, Xiao Yang happily found out that she was pregnant.
