Basic knowledge about viral cervicitis

Among many gynecological diseases, cervicitis is a common disease. Generally, cervicitis needs timely treatment and conditioning, and it can be cured soon. However, viral cervicitis must be taken seriously. If it is not treated in time, it can easily lead to infertility.

Mechanical stimulation or injury, microorganisms and their toxins, chemicals and radiation can all be the cause of cervicitis. The main symptoms of cervicitis include increased leucorrhea, lumbosacral pain, pelvic sinking feeling, dysmenorrhea, infertility and cervical erosion. As we all know, when fever occurs, clusters or single cancerous rashes often appear around the mouth, which is caused by simple herpes virus. Simple herpes virus is divided into two types, type I often causes rashes around the mouth, and type II often causes inflammation of the reproductive tract. If it causes inflammation of the cervix, it is called viral cervicitis.

Viral cervicitis is often combined with vaginitis, mostly due to infection after sexual intercourse with men with viral infections; it may also be an indirect infection. After viral infection, it takes 3 to 7 days for the disease to develop. After the first infection, there is obvious general discomfort, fatigue, low fever, headache, etc. During gynecological examination, it can be seen that the vulva, vagina, and cervix are red and swollen with pain, and scars or ulcers form on the surface of the cervix. After the disease surface heals, there is generally no scar. The course of the disease can last up to 6 weeks. After the initial infection of herpes virus, the virus may lurk in the lesion and be stored in the dorsal root of the ganglion for a long time until the next attack. If viral cervicitis recurs, the condition is generally milder than the first time. At present, the diagnosis of this disease is generally based on the patient's symptoms and signs; on the other hand, secretions are taken for virus isolation, or more advanced DNA detection methods are used. The treatment method of viral cervicitis is mainly local medication, such as applying antiviral chlortetracycline ointment to the cervix. At the same time, attention should be paid to the cleanliness of the vulva, and special attention should be paid to temporarily avoiding sexual intercourse to avoid cross infection.

Through understanding viral cervicitis, I hope that readers can be more vigilant about viral cervicitis and take timely prevention and diagnosis. Only by treating it as soon as possible can we avoid other complications caused by viral cervicitis.
