What is a benign ovarian cyst?

What is a benign ovarian cyst? Which groups of people will develop this disease? Will it have any impact? Let's listen to what the experts say on these issues.

Benign ovarian cysts, also called dermoid cysts, account for about 15% of all primary ovarian tumors. Serous cystadenomas are common in women aged 30-40, accounting for about 23% of benign ovarian tumors. They are mostly unilocular and cystic, containing straw-yellow or brown thin fluid. Mucinous cystadenomas are common in women aged 30-50, accounting for 15%-20% of benign tumors. They are mostly unilateral and multilocular, and the cysts are filled with viscous jelly-like substances. Mucinous cystadenomas can grow into the largest type of tumor. If the cyst wall ruptures, the cyst contents flow into the abdominal cavity and can be implanted on the peritoneum, forming peritoneal myxoma, which is difficult to remove adhesions.

Benign ovarian cysts contain bones and teeth, which can be shown on X-rays. Benign ovarian tumors grow slowly, are small in size in the early stages, and are asymptomatic. They can only be found during physical examinations, gynecological examinations, or B-ultrasound examinations, and appear as painless masses or lumps in the lower abdomen.
