Detailed description of the symptoms of vaginal candidiasis

Vaginal candidiasis is a common gynecological disease that brings great harm to female friends. In order to detect and treat vaginal candidiasis early, you should first understand the symptoms of vaginal candidiasis. Below we will introduce the symptoms of vaginal candidiasis in detail.

Increased vaginal discharge, itching and burning sensation of the vulva and vagina, painful urination, redness and edema around the vulva, and various changes in the epidermis. Shallow vesicular papules may occur in groups. Eczematous erosions may also form, which may be confined to the vulva or extend to the perineum, around the anus, and the femoral genital folds, and even to the inner and outer thighs, completely similar to acute or subacute eczema; thickening of the mucosa near the labia and clitoris, and flushing and erosion of the skin surfaces that touch each other are all symptoms of candidal vaginitis. Some patients may also develop tiny white pustules, and in severe cases, ulcers, vulvar pain, and local lymphadenopathy may occur.

The vagina has its own defense ability and the inhibition of vaginal bacillus. About 10% of women and 30% of pregnant women are carriers of fungi, but they do not have any clinical symptoms. Because Candida albicans grows best in a vaginal environment with a pH value of about 5.5, and when vaginal bacillus is normal, the pH value of the vagina is 4~4.5, so fungi cannot reproduce even if they exist.

Leucorrhea is not necessarily a prominent symptom of vaginitis. However, watery leucorrhea can appear as well as curd-like or ointment-like leucorrhea. For example, some are completely thin, like clear serous exudate, but often contain white flakes; others are sticky, like curd or crumbs, etc. Symptoms of candidal vaginitis often have two completely different clinical manifestations. About half of the patients have a lot of watery or purulent leucorrhea without white flakes, and the vaginal mucosa is moderately red and edematous, without severe itching and burning, only a feeling of dampness in the vulva. Another type of patient has a typical curd-like or flaky viscous leucorrhea, with highly red and swollen vaginal mucosa, and white flaky films (such as thrush) adhere to it, which are easy to peel off; underneath is the eroded base of the damaged mucosa or the formation of shallow ulcers. In severe cases, ecchymosis may be left, with severe itching and burning. During pregnancy, the itching symptoms of candidal vaginitis are more severe.

The above content mainly introduces the symptoms of candidal vaginitis in detail. We remind you that if you find the above symptoms, you should go to the hospital for treatment as soon as possible.
