How to diagnose endometriosis

The diagnosis of endometriosis requires comprehensive judgment through imaging examination, laparoscopy and pathological examination combined with clinical symptoms. Ultrasound examination, magnetic resonance imaging and laparoscopy are commonly used diagnostic methods. Doctors will choose the appropriate method according to the specific situation of the patient.

1. Imaging examination: Ultrasound examination is the preferred method for initial screening, especially transvaginal ultrasound, which can more clearly observe the location and range of endometriosis lesions. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) can provide more detailed lesion information and help determine the depth of the lesion and its relationship with surrounding tissues.

2. Laparoscopy: Laparoscopy is the gold standard for diagnosing endometriosis. Through laparoscope, we can directly observe whether there are ectopic lesions in the pelvic cavity, and we can also perform biopsy to confirm the pathological diagnosis. This method is not only used for diagnosis, but also for treatment, such as removing lesions or loosening adhesions.

3. Pathological examination: Pathological examination of lesion tissue obtained through laparoscopy or surgery can confirm whether it is endometriosis. Pathological examination is an important basis for diagnosis and can clarify the nature and extent of the lesion.

The diagnosis of endometriosis requires a comprehensive judgment based on the patient's medical history, clinical symptoms and examination results. Early diagnosis and intervention are crucial to improving the patient's quality of life and fertility. If symptoms such as dysmenorrhea, dyspareunia, and infertility occur, you should seek medical attention and undergo relevant examinations in a timely manner so that a clear diagnosis can be made as soon as possible and an appropriate treatment plan can be developed.
