What causes uterine cysts?

Uterine cysts are usually caused by abnormal hormone levels, inflammatory responses and genetic factors. Treatments include medication, surgical removal and lifestyle adjustments.

1. Abnormal hormone levels are one of the common causes of uterine cysts. Excessive estrogen levels or insufficient progesterone may cause the endometrium to thicken and form cysts. For such cases, doctors usually recommend the use of hormone regulating drugs, such as birth control pills, progesterone or gonadotropin-releasing hormone drugs, to help balance hormone levels and inhibit cyst growth.

2. Chronic inflammatory response may also lead to uterine cysts. Inflammatory diseases such as pelvic inflammatory disease and endometriosis may trigger the formation of cysts. For inflammatory cysts, doctors may prescribe antibiotics or anti-inflammatory drugs, such as metronidazole and cephalosporin antibiotics, or directly perform laparoscopic surgery to remove inflammatory tissue.

3. Genetic factors play an important role in the formation of some uterine cysts. If there is a history of uterine cysts or related diseases in the family, the individual's risk of disease will increase significantly. For such patients, clinicians may recommend regular ultrasound examinations to detect and intervene in the development of cysts early.

4. Lifestyle adjustment is also an important measure to prevent and treat uterine cysts. Maintaining a healthy diet, such as consuming more fiber-rich foods such as whole grains and vegetables and reducing high-fat and high-sugar foods, can help regulate hormone levels in the body. Moderate exercise such as yoga and jogging can promote blood circulation and reduce the risk of inflammation.

There are many causes of uterine cysts, and a treatment plan needs to be developed based on the specific situation. Medication, surgery, and lifestyle adjustments can effectively control the disease and improve quality of life.
