Abnormal bloody vaginal discharge after menopause

Abnormal bloody vaginal discharge after menopause

Abnormal vaginal discharge with blood after menopause may be a health signal from the body and needs to be taken seriously. After menopause, the estrogen level in women decreases, the vaginal mucosa becomes thinner, and dryness and inflammation are more likely to occur. However, blood in vaginal discharge may be related to more serious health problems.

There are many reasons for bloody vaginal discharge after menopause. It may be caused by inflammation such as vaginitis and cervicitis, or it may be the early manifestation of diseases such as cervical polyps, endometrial lesions, or even cervical cancer. Vaginitis and cervicitis are usually accompanied by increased vaginal discharge, odor or itching, while cervical polyps may present as painless bleeding. The early symptoms of endometrial lesions or cervical cancer may not be obvious, but bloody vaginal discharge is an important signal.

If the condition of bloody vaginal discharge persists or is accompanied by other uncomfortable symptoms, such as lower abdominal pain, bleeding after sexual intercourse, etc., it is recommended to see a doctor as soon as possible. The doctor may determine the cause through gynecological examination, cervical cytology (TCT) or HPV testing. Early detection and treatment can greatly reduce the risk of the disease.

In daily life, it is important to maintain good personal hygiene habits. Choose mild cleaning products and avoid over-cleaning the inside of the vagina to avoid disrupting the normal balance of flora. Wear breathable cotton underwear and avoid using panty liners for a long time. In terms of diet, you can consume more foods rich in vitamin E and phytoestrogens, such as soy products, nuts, etc., which can help relieve vaginal dryness. Regular gynecological examinations are recommended, especially for postmenopausal women, as at least one comprehensive gynecological examination is recommended every year. Early detection and early treatment are the key to protecting health.
