Is cervical erosion contagious?

Is cervical erosion contagious?

Cervical erosion is not contagious. It is a common disease of the female genitals and is different from infectious diseases, so it is not contagious. However, if it is accompanied by certain inflammation or infection, it needs to be treated actively.

Cervical erosion is actually a condition in which the squamous epithelium on the surface falls off and is replaced by columnar epithelium. Some people mistakenly believe that "erosion" is a serious disease, but in fact most of it is a physiological change, especially during puberty, pregnancy or after taking birth control pills. Symptoms usually include increased vaginal discharge, odor, or bleeding during sexual intercourse, but in mild cases there may be no obvious discomfort.

If the erosion area is large or accompanied by infection, such as cervicitis, HPV infection and other problems, intervention is needed as soon as possible. Long-term uncontrolled inflammation may increase the risk of more serious diseases, such as cervical lesions. Through gynecological examination or cervical cytology examination, the specific situation can be clarified, and the doctor will arrange further treatment if necessary.

Keeping the area clean, avoiding frequent flushing or using irritating cleaning products, and reducing the frequency of changing sexual partners are important ways to protect the health of the cervix. If you find abnormal vaginal discharge or other symptoms, it is recommended to go to the hospital's gynecology department for a detailed examination immediately to ensure safety and health.
