Between fat and thin! Find the secret to a healthy gut

Whether a person is fat or thin is actually related to intestinal bacteria! Doctors say that intestinal bacteria can affect a person's weight, especially the "obesogenic bacteria" in the intestines can increase fat absorption, but if a high-fiber, low-fat diet is adopted, the number and type of intestinal bacteria can be changed, which will not only make the body healthier but also make weight loss smoother.

Obesity is closely related to intestinal health, especially obese people are more prone to metabolic abnormalities.

Xiao Dunren, executive director of the Taiwan Obesity Medical Association and a hepatobiliary gastroenterologist, pointed out that there are approximately 100 trillion bacteria living in the human intestine, and their impact on human health can be divided into three types, including: good bacteria, bad bacteria, and neutral bacteria. As most people know, bifidobacteria, lactic acid bacteria, etc. are all good bacteria, and they will undergo different changes with age.

Probiotics affect intestinal absorption

Studies have found that the ratio of probiotics to the total number of bacteria in the body tends to decrease year by year with age. It is as high as 99% in infancy, remains at around 40% in adolescence, drops to 10% in middle age, and only remains at 1% to 5% after the age of 60. Not only does the intestine show signs of aging, but it is also more prone to disease risks.

In fact, intestinal health can also have a key impact on weight gain or loss. The Danish National Medical Center recently conducted a research on 169 obese people and 123 non-obese people. The results found that the types of intestinal bacteria in obese people are less diverse, and obese people are also more prone to metabolic abnormalities. The less diverse the intestinal bacteria, the more weight they gain.

Studies have found that if you adopt a high-fiber, low-fat diet, you will lose weight more smoothly.

Gut bacteria influence metabolism

Although researchers are not quite sure about the correlation between intestinal bacteria and obesity, they believe that the metabolism of intestinal bacteria itself is closely related to the overall metabolism of the human body. Another study conducted an experiment on 49 overweight and obese people. These people participated in a diet weight loss plan, and their diet was mainly low-fat, low-calorie, high-protein foods, and combined with high-fiber foods such as vegetables and fruits.

Research results show that this kind of diet can indeed change intestinal health and can change intestinal bacteria through diet, making the intestines healthier and reducing the chance of obesity. The above research results were recently published in the Journal of Natural Science and received high discussion and attention.

Intestinal obesogenic bacteria promote lipolysis

Domestic studies have found that "obesogenic bacteria" in the intestines may promote the decomposition of fat, making it easier for the intestines to absorb it and increase the body's ability to absorb sugars and fatty acids. Clinically, it has been found that if there are too many Firmicutes (obesogenic bacteria) in the intestines, it can easily lead to obesity. Eliminating the obesogenic bacteria can help lose weight.

In fact, some intestinal bacteria have obesogenic properties, which promote the decomposition and absorption of sugars and fats in the intestines. For the same food, people with more obesogenic bacteria in the intestines can absorb the calories more easily. Therefore, regularly supplementing with beneficial bacteria such as lactic acid bacteria and adjusting the intestinal flora can help control weight gain.

The best way to lose weight is to eat less and exercise more

The research team also found that there is a type of lactic acid bacteria that can fight against obesity-causing bacteria. It is called Lactobacillus paracasei NTU101. Animal experiments have shown that it can help people lose a quarter of their body weight in 6 weeks. However, whether it can be applied to humans in the future is still a question mark. Therefore, doctors remind us that obesity is not caused by a single factor. Controlling calorie intake, developing exercise habits, eating less and exercising more are still the only ways to control weight.
