A recent Australian study pointed out that women enter a stage where it is difficult to lose weight no matter how hard they try after menopause or around the age of 50. Therefore, if you hope to have a good figure in your later years, it is best to start a weight loss plan while you are young!

After menopause, women gain an average of 2 kg in weight!

According to a report in The Sydney Morning Herald, researchers from Newcastle University recruited 7,000 women aged 48 to 56 as research subjects, observing their eating habits, exercise frequency, calorie consumption, etc. The research lasted for six years.

However, the study found that women who ate a healthy diet (in line with Australia's daily healthy eating guidelines) gained 1.7 kg over six years, the same amount of weight as other women who did not have healthy eating habits.

After menopause, metabolism slows down and weight rises sharply!

Clare Collins, the lead researcher on the study, said that based on the results of past studies, people who maintain healthy eating habits for a long time will consume more calories on their own; but the results of this study found that after middle age, especially after menopause, the decrease in female hormone estrogen and the slowing of metabolism will affect the efficiency of weight loss and cause women to gain weight unconsciously.

If you want to avoid gaining weight after the age of 50, the best way is not to wait until you become fat before thinking about losing weight. Start planning in advance to control your diet and increase the frequency of exercise to maintain your figure, so that you don’t start worrying about not being able to lose fat after menopause.
