The aftermath of the poisoning in Food Paradise should be reported within 48 hours

Since the food poisoning incident at the famous restaurant "Food Paradise" was reported on the 7th of this month, the Taichung City Government Health Bureau has received 12 complaints from the public as of the 12th. It is estimated that a total of 26 people have suffered abdominal pain and diarrhea due to suspected contaminated oysters. However, as the complainant did not report the food poisoning within 48 hours, samples could not be collected immediately and the restaurant could only be asked to improve its poor environmental hygiene within a specified period of time.

Huang Meina, director of the Taichung Municipal Government's Health Bureau, said that the people who complained went to the Taichung store of "Food Paradise" to dine on April 24, May 21, and June 2 to 5 this year. As a result, those who ate oysters experienced abdominal pain, diarrhea and other symptoms. However, since most of the people reported the incident after June 7, more than 48 hours after the food poisoning occurred, human specimens, environmental specimens and retained food samples could not be sampled in the first time to clarify the real cause of the food poisoning.

However, in order to ensure the food hygiene of the restaurant, the Health Bureau immediately launched an intensive inspection on the matter and found that the operator had removed all oysters suspected of having problems from the shelves and replaced them with cooked mussels. However, there was dust on the ceiling of the restaurant, raw and cooked food were not separated, cartons were placed in the refrigerator, rags were not differentiated and were not kept clean, temperature control and records of refrigerators and freezers were not implemented, and frozen ingredients were not thawed according to regulations. A deadline for improvement order has been issued, requiring the operator to make improvements before the 15th.
