Symptoms of Endometriosis

Symptoms of Endometriosis

Symptoms of Endometriosis:

Symptoms of endometriosis mainly include pelvic pain, menstrual abnormalities, infertility, difficulty in defecation and constipation.

1. Pelvic pain:

It is the most typical symptom. 70% to 80% of endometriosis patients have pelvic pain of different types and degrees.

1. Dysmenorrhea:

Abdominal pain occurs during menstruation and is the most common and important symptom. The pain tends to gradually increase over time. It is mainly located in the lower abdomen, lumbosacral region and mid-pelvic cavity, and can radiate to the perineum, anus and thighs. It usually starts from 1 to 2 days before menstruation, is most severe on the first day of menstruation, and then gradually decreases until it disappears when menstruation is over. The degree of pain is not necessarily proportional to the size of the lesion. Sometimes the lesion is very small and the pain caused is unbearable.

2Chronic pelvic pain:

Non-cyclical pelvic pain. Pain may occur in the pelvis, anterior abdominal wall, umbilicus or below the umbilicus, lumbosacral region or buttocks. The pain has no obvious relationship with menstruation. The pain lasts for more than 6 months. The use of opioid analgesics is ineffective.

3. Pain during sexual intercourse:

It usually presents as deep pain during intercourse, which is most obvious before menstruation.

2. Abnormal menstruation:

15% to 30% of women with endometriosis experience menstrual abnormalities, which can be manifested as increased menstrual flow, prolonged menstrual periods, or prolonged menstrual bleeding. This can be accompanied by spotting before menstruation.

3. Infertility:

40% to 50% of women with endometriosis will develop infertility, which is manifested by not taking contraceptives after marriage, having normal sexual life, and not getting pregnant for more than one year.

4. Difficulty in defecation and constipation:

Some people may experience difficulty defecating and constipation before or during menstruation. When patients experience the above symptoms, they must go to the hospital as soon as possible to take appropriate treatment to avoid threatening their future health and safety and increasing the difficulty of treatment.
