Is it better to take medicine or infusion for pelvic inflammatory disease?

Is it better to take medicine or intravenous drip for pelvic inflammatory disease?

Infusion generally refers to intravenous medication, and medication refers to oral medication. When pelvic inflammation is mild, oral medication is generally taken according to the doctor's advice to achieve better treatment results. When the condition is serious, intravenous medication is required under the guidance of a doctor to effectively control the condition. Regardless of which medication is used, the medication cannot be adjusted on its own.

1. Mild condition: Pelvic inflammation is mainly caused by infection. If personal hygiene is not taken seriously, the patient may only have mild abdominal pain, increased vaginal discharge, abnormal vaginal bleeding, etc., or the discomfort symptoms are not obvious. Generally, oral medications such as levofloxacin hydrochloride capsules, cefaclor capsules, metronidazole tablets, etc. can be taken according to the doctor's advice, and most of them can effectively control the infection.

2. Serious condition: If the condition is serious, with systemic symptoms such as fever and chills, and oral medication alone cannot control the condition, you can take measures such as intramuscular injection and intravenous injection as recommended by the doctor. Commonly used drugs include sodium penicillin injection, sodium ceftriaxone injection, etc. You also need to rest in bed, strengthen nutrition, and replenish fluids appropriately to promote physical recovery.

If drug treatment is ineffective, or the abscess persists or ruptures, you will also need to go to the gynecology department. After evaluation by the doctor, surgical treatment measures will be taken, including conservative surgery, total hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy, pus resection, etc. The condition will gradually improve after the lesion is removed.
