Are there many complications of pelvic inflammatory disease?

The inflammatory stimulation of pelvic inflammatory disease will cause patients to experience various discomfort symptoms, thus affecting their work and life. So, are there many complications of pelvic inflammatory disease? Pelvic inflammatory disease mostly occurs in women who are sexually active and menstruating. It rarely occurs in women before menarche, after menopause or unmarried people. Once you have pelvic inflammatory disease, it is easy to cause complications if it is not treated in time. Moreover, pelvic inflammatory disease has many complications, which are specifically introduced as follows:

1. Recurrent pelvic inflammatory disease: 25% of acute pelvic inflammatory disease may recur later, and the recurrence rate of young patients is twice that of the general age group. Due to the damage to the fallopian tubes during the last infection, the sensitivity to bacterial invasion increases.

2. Tubal ovarian cysts: When salpingitis affects the ovaries, the fallopian tubes and ovaries adhere to each other to form an inflammatory mass, or the fimbria of the fallopian tubes adhere to the ovaries and become connected, and fluid seeps out to form tubal ovarian cysts.

3. Hydrosalpinx: Chronic salpingitis is mostly bilateral, the fallopian tube is slightly or moderately swollen, the fimbria may be partially or completely closed, and adhere to the surrounding tissues. If the fimbria and isthmus of the fallopian tube are adhered and closed due to inflammation, serous exudate accumulates to form hydrosalpinx.
