Care after surgical treatment of congenital absence of vagina

Care after surgical treatment of congenital absence of vagina

How to take care of congenital absence of vagina before and after surgery? Congenital absence of vagina requires vaginoplasty. If there is a uterus and menstruation, laparotomy should be performed. If it is possible to connect the cervix to the upper end of the artificial vagina, this procedure should be performed to restore the normal uterus and vaginal passage. If there are difficulties, the uterus should be removed.

Experts say that the following points should be noted when caring for congenital absence of vagina:

1. Psychological care

Pay attention to caring and sympathizing with patients, understand their sufferings, encourage them to speak out their inner feelings, explain the treatment methods and effects to patients and their families, let them face reality positively, and establish the determination to overcome the disease. After surgery, patients should be encouraged to actively participate in social activities and realize themselves again.

2. Special preparation before surgery

Choose a vaginal model of appropriate size according to the patient's age, and prepare two or more vaginal models and T-belts for the patient, sterilize them and keep them ready for use. For patients undergoing free flap vaginoplasty, the skin of the middle thigh on one side should be prepared.

3. Instruct patients on how to use the vaginal model

Assist the doctor to replace the vaginal model for the patient and fix it with a T-belt. The vaginal model should be of appropriate size and lubricant should be applied to the model to relieve pain. The vaginal model should be disinfected and replaced daily, and the patient should be taught how to disinfect and replace the model before being discharged from the hospital.
