Causes of infertility after abortion

Causes of infertility after abortion

Abortion surgery can cause great harm to the patient's health, often causing a series of complications, which can have a certain impact on the patient's fertility and even lead to infertility.

Endometriosis

Endometriosis is one of the important causes of female infertility. During abortion surgery, due to the sudden change in intrauterine pressure, some blood may flow back into the abdominal cavity, and endometrial cells may be implanted in the abdominal wall or ovaries, causing endometriosis and leading to infertility.

Excessive curettage

Excessive curettage during abortion surgery can damage the basal layer of the patient's endometrium, causing endometrial damage and uterine adhesions, affecting the implantation of the fertilized egg, and further causing infertility after abortion.

Endometritis

Abortion surgery will cause certain damage to the uterine cavity. If pathogens invade at this time, it may cause endometritis and easily cause uterine cavity adhesion, which will cause the fertilized egg to fail to implant or fail to grow and develop after implantation, resulting in infertility of the patient after abortion.

Fallopian tube inflammation

If the patient is infected during or after an abortion, it may lead to salpingitis, resulting in blockage and adhesion of the fallopian tubes, affecting the combination of sperm and egg or the movement of the fertilized egg, thus causing infertility after abortion.

Pelvic inflammatory disease

Pelvic inflammatory disease after abortion can cause extensive adhesions in the pelvis, affecting ovarian ovulation, the meeting and fertilization of sperm and egg. Severe pelvic inflammatory disease can spread to the pelvic peritoneum, uterus and tissues around the cervix, eventually causing these organs and tissues to harden and become inactive. In particular, the fallopian tubes will lose their soft peristaltic physiological function, become stiff, twisted, and completely blocked, causing infertility.
