Potassium permanganate sitz bath helps treat vaginitis

Potassium permanganate sitz bath helps treat vaginitis

Vaginitis is a common gynecological disease. Some patients can take a sitz bath in potassium permanganate solution to achieve good auxiliary treatment effects.

1. Which patients with vaginitis are suitable for potassium permanganate sitz bath therapy?

Generally speaking, patients with bacterial vaginitis and Trichomonas vaginitis can use potassium permanganate aqueous solution sitting bath to treat vaginitis. However, patients with candidal vaginitis are not suitable for this treatment, otherwise it will not only fail to inhibit the reproduction of fungi, but will also cause adverse consequences such as worsening of the disease.

2. How to correctly use potassium permanganate solution

Potassium permanganate is a small black-purple particle that is easily soluble in water. The solution is rose red and has a good bactericidal effect. When preparing a 0.02% potassium permanganate solution for a sitz bath, be sure to use cold boiled water, as hot water will cause it to decompose and become ineffective. And the solution should be used as soon as possible after it is prepared, because it can only be stored for about 2 hours. After the time is up, the solution will turn brown-purple and lose its disinfecting effect. In addition, potassium permanganate solution is a slower-acting auxiliary therapy. During the sitz bath, patients must ensure that the area is immersed for more than 5 minutes to achieve a better bactericidal effect.

It should be noted that women who do not suffer from vaginitis should not use potassium permanganate wash for a long time to prevent vaginitis. Otherwise, it is easy to kill a large number of vaginal bacteria that normally parasitize in the vagina and help maintain the local acidic environment, causing the adverse consequence of the reproduction of pathogenic bacteria. Not only will it not have a preventive effect, but it will also cause the occurrence of vaginitis.
