4 common causes of amenorrhea

Amenorrhea is a female disease with a relatively complex etiology. Its common causes are mainly the following four aspects:

1. Uterine lesions

Uterine amenorrhea is caused by uterine diseases, such as uterine hypoplasia, cicatricial endometrial inflammation, etc. Even if the patient's ovarian function is good and the female characteristics develop normally, amenorrhea may occur.

2. Ovarian lesions

Menstruation is caused by the ovarian secretion of hormones acting on the endometrium, which causes shedding and bleeding. If the ovaries lose the function of secreting hormones, it will cause endometrial lesions and lead to amenorrhea. Common causes of abnormal ovarian secretion function include congenital ovarian hypoplasia and premature ovarian failure. Most patients have dysplasia or degeneration of female characteristics, such as breasts gradually becoming equal.

3. Pituitary lesions

The pituitary gland is located below the brain. Although it is small in size, it plays a big role and controls all endocrine organs in the body. Once the pituitary function is affected, it will directly affect the ovarian function and induce amenorrhea. There are two main causes of pituitary function changes, namely pituitary tumors and hypopituitarism.

4. Central nervous system stimulation

The central nervous system includes the brain and hypothalamus, which guide and control the activities of the pituitary gland and ovarian function. When the central nervous system is adversely stimulated, ovarian dysfunction will occur, which will then cause amenorrhea.
