How do you know if you have chronic cervicitis?

Chronic cervicitis is a common gynecological disease. The cause of chronic cervicitis may be cervical lacerations that cause cervical deformation, or it may be due to acute cervicitis that is not cured in time, which eventually leads to chronic cervicitis. It is important to understand the symptoms of chronic cervicitis so that patients can receive relevant treatment as soon as possible.

Symptoms of chronic cervicitis

1. Cervical erosion

This is the most common symptom of chronic cervicitis. This cervicitis is manifested by a finely granular red area in the cervicovaginal part of the cervix at the external cervical opening.

2. Endocervicitis

That is cervicitis. The inflammation of cervicitis is limited to the cervical mucosa and the tissues underneath. Clinically, the cervical vagina is smooth, but the cervical opening is congested or blocked by purulent secretions.

3. Cervical polyps

Under the long-term stimulation of chronic cervicitis, the cervical mucosa proliferates locally. Due to the rejection of the uterus, the proliferating mucosa gradually protrudes from the cervical opening, forming polyps.

4. Cervical gland cyst

This is a small bluish-white vesicle protruding from the surface of the cervix, which is also a relatively obvious symptom of chronic cervicitis.

5. Cervical hypertrophy

The symptoms of this type of chronic cervicitis are cervical congestion, edema, glandular and stroma hyperplasia, resulting in varying degrees of cervical hypertrophy.

Chronic cervicitis not only brings inconvenience to patients' lives because of these symptoms, but also can lead to female infertility if patients do not seek treatment or receive inappropriate treatment. In severe cases, it can even cause deep lesions. Therefore, when patients have symptoms of chronic cervicitis, they should remember to do relevant examinations in time, and if confirmed, they should receive treatment.
