Causes and treatment of cervical hypertrophy

Causes and treatment of cervical hypertrophy

Cervical hypertrophy is a type of chronic cervicitis. It is an inflammatory change caused by pathogens infecting the cervical mucosa. The main causes are: (1) Chronic inflammation and long-term stimulation cause cervical congestion, edema, and proliferation of cervical glands and stroma, resulting in varying degrees of cervical hypertrophy. (2) Mucus may accumulate deep in the cervical glands, forming cysts of varying sizes, causing the cervix to become hypertrophic.

Physical therapy is suitable for moderate and severe erosion. It is the most effective and shortest treatment method. Generally, it can be cured in one treatment. For patients with cervical hypertrophy, deep and wide erosion involving the cervical canal, and (or) suspected malignant changes, cervical cone resection can be performed. The excised tissue is sent for pathological examination. This method leaves a small scar and the cervix can remain in its original state after the operation.

There are many treatment methods, including electric ironing, freezing, laser, infrared, etc., which are suitable for patients with severe cervical hypertrophy and those with deep inflammatory infiltration, and generally have good results. Oral Chinese medicine treatment based on Chinese medicine dialectics can also be considered. If the course of the disease is long, and the cervical hypertrophy has slight erosion or mucosal eversion, and the above treatment methods have been used, then surgical treatment should be considered.
